Registered Respiratory Therapist (rrt)

Encompass Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. As an integral member of a multidisciplinary care team, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care to adults with complex medical and rehabilitative needs. In this role, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care treatments, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, and case managers to support optimal functional recovery and successful transitions of care. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, interpret diagnostic tests, and administer prescribed therapies including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, chest physiotherapy, noninvasive ventilation, and ventilator management. You will monitor patient responses, adjust treatment plans in coordination with the medical team, and document all care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. You will also play a key role in patient and family education, teaching safe use of respiratory equipment, breathing exercises, energy conservation techniques, and disease management strategies to support independence after discharge. Working in our nurturing, dynamic, and rewarding environment, the RRT will actively participate in interdisciplinary care conferences, contribute to individualized rehabilitation goals, and advocate for patient safety and evidence-based practice. You will follow established protocols for respiratory emergencies, respond to rapid response and code situations, and assist in airway management as needed. The therapist will help maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensure proper infection control practices, and promote compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations.
