Certified Respiratory Therapist (crt)
About the Role
Encompass Health is seeking a dedicated Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team, delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will evaluate, treat, and manage patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders while supporting their overall rehabilitation goals. Working in a nurturing, dynamic, and rewarding environment, you will administer and monitor therapeutic respiratory treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, airway clearance techniques, and ventilator management according to physician orders and established clinical protocols. You will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and pulmonary function data, and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation therapists. In this role, you will ensure the safe and effective use of respiratory equipment by setting up, calibrating, and troubleshooting ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, oxygen delivery systems, and related technology, maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, and adhering to regulatory and infection-control standards. You will educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, proper use of inhalers and home respiratory equipment, breathing exercises, and strategies to optimize lung function and prevent exacerbations after discharge. As part of our patient-centric culture, you will actively participate in interdisciplinary care conferences, contribute to individualized care plans, communicate changes in patient status promptly, and support early mobility and functional goals consistent with an inpatient rehab environment. You will follow evidence-based guidelines, support quality improvement initiatives, and comply with hospital policies and professional standards of practice. This position offers the opportunity for ongoing professional growth through collaboration with experienced clinicians, exposure to a wide range of complex rehab patients, and the ability to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes every day. Candidates should be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, hold current CRT certification, and possess or be eligible for state licensure as a respiratory care practitioner. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred or to be obtained within a specified timeframe after hire. Prior experience in acute care, critical care, or inpatient rehabilitation is preferred, along with strong clinical assessment skills, proficiency with respiratory equipment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on exceptional patient care.
