Registered Respiratory Therapist Part Time Nicu
About the Role
St. David's Medical Center, part of St. David's HealthCare, is a full-service hospital located in central Austin, specializing in neurology, cardiac services, and robotic surgery among other services. Dedicated to compassionate care, St. David’s upholds a culture of excellence and teamwork, focusing on patient-centered practice. We are seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our NICU team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will provide specialized respiratory care to premature and critically ill neonates in a high-acuity NICU environment. Working side by side with neonatologists, NICU nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team, you will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and continually evaluate each infant’s response to therapy. Your responsibilities will include managing and monitoring ventilators and non-invasive respiratory support, performing and interpreting blood gas analyses, administering medications and oxygen therapy, and assisting with neonatal resuscitations and high-risk deliveries when respiratory support is needed. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist in our NICU, you will play a key role in supporting families through clear communication and education about their infant’s respiratory status, equipment, and anticipated course of care. You will be expected to document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record, while adhering to hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate in ongoing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, helping to maintain our commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence. St. David’s Medical Center offers a supportive, team-oriented environment that values professional growth. You will have opportunities to refine your neonatal critical care skills, participate in educational offerings, and contribute to process improvements within the unit. Competitive compensation, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) benefits are available, along with ongoing professional development resources that reflect our dedication to both patient and staff well-being. This part-time, on-site NICU position is ideal for an experienced RRT who is passionate about caring for our most vulnerable patients and contributing to a culture of compassionate, high-quality care.
