Registered Respiratory Therapist Rrt Nicu
About the Role
St. David's Medical Center, part of St. David's HealthCare, is seeking a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU experience to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Austin. As a full-service hospital recognized for excellence in neurology, cardiac services, and robotic surgery, St. David's is equally committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care to our most vulnerable patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
In this role, you will provide specialized respiratory care to premature and critically ill neonates in a high-acuity NICU setting. You will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, initiate and manage ventilator support, CPAP, and other advanced respiratory modalities, and carry out ordered respiratory treatments while continuously monitoring patient status. You will obtain and interpret blood gases, adjust therapy based on clinical findings and established protocols, and collaborate closely with neonatologists, NICU nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
You will actively participate in neonatal resuscitations, high-risk deliveries, and emergency responses in accordance with NRP and hospital guidelines, ensuring safe and timely interventions. Meticulous documentation in the electronic medical record, strict adherence to infection prevention and safety standards, and vigilant equipment checks are essential aspects of this position. You will also play a key role in educating and supporting families, explaining respiratory conditions, therapies, and equipment to help them feel informed and involved in their infant’s care.
Aligned with St. David’s culture of excellence and teamwork, you will contribute to a collaborative, supportive work environment that prioritizes quality outcomes and patient-centered practice. The position offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for continuous professional development within a leading regional healthcare system. If you are a compassionate, detail-oriented RRT who is passionate about neonatal care and thrives in a fast-paced, team-focused NICU environment, we encourage you to apply.
Qualified candidates are credentialed as Registered Respiratory Therapists and hold current state licensure. Prior NICU or Level III/IV neonatal experience is strongly preferred, as are current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
