Staff Data Scientist (adtech Expert) (f/m/d)
About the Role
adjoe is a mobile ad platform developing cutting‑edge advertising and monetization solutions that take its app partners’ business to the next level. It is part of the Applike Group ecosystem and has a powerful financial backing from Bertelsmann. Ads are everywhere in mobile games. We re‑define the mobile ad tech market by creating advertising experiences that are engaging for end users while profitable for our publishers and advertisers. The high‑frequency nature of ad tech provides us with unique challenges to solve each day. We are doing more than 10 billion predictions every day using state‑of‑the‑art machine learning models (GDCN). We firmly believe in self‑built, self‑hosted technologies backed by open‑source tools and cloud providers to deliver rock‑solid performance. Our team is equipped with all the necessary tools to test new ideas offline quickly and launch A/B tests on production in minutes. If something is missing, we just build it ourselves. Our mobile SDKs not only render our ads but also provide us with the necessary data to deeply understand our users’ behavior. Data science is the heart and brain of a successful ad tech product. The adjoe Ads Data Science team manages the entire bidding algorithm from start to end, including conversion prediction, user‑quality estimation and bid shading. We give everyone the space to do what they do best, while also encouraging exploration of new areas and learning new skills. We are a fast‑moving team translating theory into impactful solutions using state‑of‑the‑art technologies and collaborating closely with product and business stakeholders. What You Will Do Architect and Refine Relevance Models: Take the lead in designing and implementing sophisticated targeting models that understand user preference within the dynamic ad tech ecosystem. Drive significant improvements in ad performance and user engagement through machine learning techniques. Explore Policy Optimization Strategies: Develop and optimize bidding policies using Bayesian methods, reinforcement learning and other advanced optimization algorithms. Continuously refine these policies to maximize business KPI and adapt to the ever‑changing real‑time bidding landscape. Share knowledge and be a mentor: Boost the entire team’s performance by sharing your knowledge and experience from the industry. Help your colleagues grow professionally by giving advice and mentoring them. Build and Deploy Meta‑Learning Frameworks: Create and implement meta‑models that learn from user interactions, enabling personalized ad experiences. Conduct rigorous A/B testing and experimentation: Validate your hypothesis and measure the impact of new features on key business metrics. Champion Software Engineering Best Practices: Advocate for best practices, robust software engineering principles, within and outside our data science community. Who you are You have 7+ years of professional experience working with deep machine learning models in the ad tech industry. You have previously designed and implemented bidding or LTV prediction algorithms for ad tech (working on DSP or Ad Network, or App Publisher’s side; preferably performance advertising or gaming). You are comfortable navigating and extracting insights from massive datasets using tools like AWS Athena, Spark, or Ray, demonstrating fluency in distributed data processing. You possess a strong foundation in mathematical concepts and are skilled at translating complex algorithms into clear, concise explanations for both technical and non‑technical audiences. You are a strong team player and enjoy helping others.
