About the Role
The RN Clinical Learning & Development Specialist at Sanford Health is a professional registered nurse who advances clinical excellence through the design, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-based education for nurses and interprofessional care teams. Working within the Education, Training & E‑Learning department, this role partners closely with clinical leaders, bedside nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure that staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate patient care.
In this position, you will conduct ongoing learning needs assessments, analyze clinical performance and quality data, and translate those findings into targeted education plans that support organizational priorities. You will design and facilitate a variety of learning experiences, including orientation and onboarding programs, competency validation, skills labs, simulation-based training, and e‑learning modules. Using adult learning principles and current best practices in clinical education, you will tailor content for diverse learner groups and support staff at all stages of their professional development.
The RN Clinical Learning & Development Specialist serves as a visible clinical resource on the units, offering real-time coaching, bedside teaching, and support during new process implementations or high-acuity situations. You will collaborate with leaders to implement new clinical protocols, technologies, and practice changes, ensuring that education is timely, practical, and aligned with regulatory and accreditation requirements. You will also mentor preceptors, charge nurses, and emerging clinical leaders, strengthening their skills in teaching, feedback, and role modeling professional practice.
