Registered Respiratory Therapist
Piedmont Healthcare
Rochester, New York, US
About the Role
Piedmont Healthcare, a leading non-profit healthcare system in Georgia, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide evidence-based respiratory care to patients across a range of acute and chronic conditions, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will be responsible for assessing patients’ respiratory status, developing and implementing care plans, and delivering treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance techniques. You will manage and monitor invasive and non-invasive ventilators, perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, interpret results, and adjust therapies in accordance with established protocols and physician orders. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will participate in emergency response situations, including rapid response and code blue teams, providing airway management, resuscitative support, and advanced respiratory interventions when needed. You will educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, use of inhalers and home therapies, and strategies to promote lung health, while documenting care thoroughly in the electronic medical record and ensuring compliance with regulatory and hospital standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to Piedmont’s culture of respect, innovation, and teamwork by engaging in quality improvement activities, supporting evidence-based practice, and precepting or mentoring less experienced staff and students as appropriate. You will have access to ongoing training and professional development to expand your skills and advance your career, while working in an inclusive, patient-centered environment dedicated to delivering comprehensive care across the state. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs and clinical priorities while maintaining a calm, supportive presence at the bedside.
