Harris Regional Hospital
Sylva, North Carolina, US
About the Role
Harris Regional Hospital, located in Sylva, NC, is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, compassionate respiratory care to patients across a variety of age groups and acuity levels in an acute care hospital setting. Working within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, develop and implement care plans in collaboration with physicians and nurses, and provide evidence-based therapies to support optimal respiratory function.
The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for administering oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and respiratory treatments; managing and monitoring ventilators and other respiratory support equipment; and performing arterial blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation to guide clinical decision-making. You will participate in airway management, including suctioning and emergency interventions for patients in respiratory distress, and will respond promptly to rapid response and code situations as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record is essential, as is adherence to infection control, patient safety, and hospital quality standards. You will educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home-care instructions to support safe transitions of care. As part of Harris Regional Hospital’s culture of excellence, you will actively contribute to a respectful and collaborative work environment, engaging with colleagues to improve patient outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals in a team-oriented environment that values clinical expertise, continuous learning, and professional growth. Respiratory Therapists are encouraged to participate in ongoing education, skills development, and quality improvement initiatives that align with our mission of community-focused, personalized care. Candidates should bring strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered service while supporting the hospital’s emphasis on safety, compassion, and community engagement.
