Physiatrist Physician (physician )
Methodist Health System
Denton County, Texas, US
About the Role
Methodist Health System is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist / PRN to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this flexible, as‑needed role, you will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based physical therapy services to patients across our hospitals and clinics in Texas, supporting our mission to improve and save lives with compassion and clinical excellence.
As a Physical Therapist / PRN, you will evaluate patients with a wide range of physical and functional limitations resulting from injury, illness, surgery, or chronic conditions. Based on your findings, you will develop individualized plans of care with clear, measurable goals aimed at restoring function, reducing pain, improving mobility, and maximizing independence and quality of life.
You will deliver interventions that may include therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re‑education, gait and balance training, manual therapy techniques, functional training, and patient and family education. You will modify treatment plans as patients progress, carefully documenting all evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries in the electronic medical record in accordance with Methodist Health System policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
You will work closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate and optimize patient care. You will participate in care conferences as needed, provide input on discharge planning, and recommend appropriate durable medical equipment, assistive devices, and follow‑up services such as home health, outpatient therapy, or community programs.
In alignment with Methodist Health System’s culture of integrity, compassion, accountability, and inclusiveness, you will treat every patient and family member with respect and empathy, providing clear education on diagnosis, prognosis, home exercise programs, safety strategies, and self‑management techniques. This PRN position offers schedule flexibility based on patient census and departmental needs. You may be scheduled for weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and may float between units or facilities depending on experience and operational requirements. Settings may include acute care hospital units (such as medical‑surgical, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiac), inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient therapy clinics.
Key expectations for this role include maintaining compliance with all state and federal regulations, Joint Commission standards, and Methodist Health System policies. You will adhere to safe patient‑handling practices, infection prevention protocols, and fall‑prevention strategies. You will be expected to maintain current licensure and certifications, participate in required annual competencies and in‑service training, and engage in ongoing professional development to keep current with best practices and advances in physical therapy. Familiarity with outcome measures, evidence‑based guidelines, and quality‑improvement initiatives is encouraged, as you will contribute to departmental goals related to patient satisfaction, functional outcomes, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate for this Physical Therapist / PRN role is a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program with an active Physical Therapist license in the State of Texas (or eligibility to obtain prior to start), current BLS certification, and strong clinical assessment and manual skills. You are comfortable working independently in a dynamic, fast‑paced healthcare environment, managing a variable caseload, and prioritizing tasks effectively while maintaining a high standard of care.
By joining Methodist Health System as a PRN Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting our patients’ recovery journeys while benefiting from a supportive, collaborative clinical environment dedicated to quality, safety, and compassionate service.
