NATIONAL SECURITY SENIOR ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY National Security & Regulatory Practice Group Location: Washington, DC HYBRID Our client, a global AmLaw 50 law firm , is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join its premier National Security Group . This practice advises sophisticated global clients—including asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, multinational companies, and major financial institutions—on the full spectrum of U.S. national security regulatory regimes. The role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of complex, high-stakes regulatory, transactional, and enforcement matters within a top-ranked national security practice. Candidate Profile JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record . Active Bar Admission in a relevant jurisdiction , in good standing. 6+ years of substantive experience advising on U.S. national security and regulatory matters . Substantial experience providing compliance advice related to economic sanctions, export controls, and outbound investment restrictions , including matters involving OFAC, EAR/BIS, ITAR/DDTC, and OGT . Experience advising clients throughout the CFIUS and DCSA processes, including transaction agreement negotiation, filing preparation and submission, mitigation negotiations, and ongoing compliance with mitigation measures. Experience conducting internal investigations , preparing voluntary disclosures , and supporting settlement negotiations with enforcement authorities is a plus. Strong analytical and drafting skills; two written work samples are required for evaluation. Key Responsibilities Advise clients on U.S. national security regulatory regimes, including economic sanctions, export controls, CFIUS, DCSA, and outbound investment restrictions . Support clients in transactional matters , including national security risk assessment, deal structuring, and regulatory strategy. Prepare and submit CFIUS and DCSA filings , negotiate mitigation agreements, and advise on compliance with mitigation obligations. Provide strategic compliance counseling and support internal investigations related to potential regulatory violations. Assist clients with voluntary disclosures , regulatory inquiries, and enforcement matters before relevant U.S. authorities.
