Flex Mri Technologist

Avera Health, a regional health system based in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a Flex MRI Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this flexible, as‑needed role, you will perform high‑quality MRI examinations for a diverse patient population, supporting multiple shifts or locations based on department needs. You will work closely with radiologists, nurses, and other care team members to deliver accurate diagnostic images that support timely clinical decisions and improved patient outcomes. Responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients for MRI exams, operating MRI scanners and related equipment, selecting appropriate imaging protocols, and ensuring images meet diagnostic standards. You will screen patients for safety, obtain informed consent when required, start IV lines and administer contrast agents per protocol, and monitor patients throughout procedures, responding promptly to changes in condition. The Flex MRI Technologist upholds strict MRI safety practices, including proper use of screening forms, access control to the MRI suite, and safe handling of ferromagnetic objects. The role also involves accurately documenting procedures in the electronic medical record and radiology information systems, verifying orders, and supporting scheduling and workflow efficiency. You will provide compassionate, respectful patient care consistent with Avera Health’s culture of hospitality and stewardship, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and maintaining patient privacy and dignity. Flex technologists may rotate across sites or shifts, providing coverage for vacations, call‑ins, weekends, or evenings as needed.
