About the Role

Avera Health, a regional health system based in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As part of a mission-driven organization serving communities across the Upper Midwest, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality anesthesia care while embodying our culture of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship. In this role, you will provide the full scope of nurse anesthesia services for a diverse surgical and procedural population, including general, regional, monitored anesthesia care, and sedation. You will conduct thorough pre-anesthesia assessments, review medical histories, evaluate risk factors, and collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the broader care team to develop individualized anesthesia plans. During procedures, you will manage and closely monitor patients’ airways, hemodynamics, ventilation, and level of consciousness, making timely adjustments to anesthetic agents and techniques to ensure safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. Your responsibilities will include airway management, including endotracheal intubation and advanced techniques as indicated; initiation and titration of anesthetic and adjunct medications; and continuous interpretation of physiologic data from monitors and equipment. You will oversee patients throughout the perioperative continuum, from preoperative evaluation through intraoperative care to post-anesthesia recovery, providing effective pain control and promptly identifying and managing anesthesia-related complications. You will document all care accurately and comprehensively in the electronic medical record, adhering to institutional policies and regulatory standards. As a CRNA at Avera Health, you will be an integral member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that values communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making. You will participate in quality improvement initiatives, safety programs, and evidence-based practice efforts aimed at improving patient outcomes and enhancing the patient experience. You will also contribute to patient and family education, explaining anesthesia options, risks, and expectations in a clear, compassionate manner that reflects Avera’s commitment to dignity and respect. Avera Health offers a supportive environment that encourages professional growth and development. You will have opportunities for continuing education, skill advancement, and participation in system-wide initiatives that shape the future of perioperative and procedural care. In return for your expertise and dedication, Avera provides a competitive, market-based compensation package and a comprehensive benefits program, which may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement savings options such as a 401k, along with paid time off and other wellness resources. This on-site role is ideal for a CRNA who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, is committed to clinical excellence and patient safety, and seeks to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients and families.
