System Specialist

VGM's Fulfillment Systems team is seeking a problem solver to multitask and communicate with business stakeholders when system issues arise. The team will teach you what you need to know about the system, but you'll need the innate ability to think critically to resolve system issues in a timely manner while maintaining a positive attitude and effective communication skills. The ideal candidate has the experience and hands‑on ability to troubleshoot, and problem‑solve computer system issues, and hardware/software malfunctions. They also need to compile data requests using analytics, and to leverage and gain insights from the data. This position will work in conjunction with customer contacts, software programmers, and our sales and implementation teams, communicating both technical and non‑technical ideas to complete projects and enhance/improve systems. A key component to this job is being able to understand the general framework of all business processes (invoicing, website, ProShip, reporting, etc.) especially as they relate to our data traffic, thus being equipped to make decisions and answer questions from both internal and external sources. Reporting to: System Support Manager Working Location: On‑Site in Waterloo or hybrid Working Hours: Full‑Time; Monday‑Friday, 8am‑5pm CST with additional hours as needed to meet business needs and job requirements What you'll do: Manage a ticketing queue while diagnosing and solving hardware/software and system issues, escalating as needed to ensure timely resolution Maintain frequent and effective written and verbal communication Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of processes and workflows Ensure data integrity and data reporting to support operations, trading partners, and management Assist with day‑to‑day requests sent to the system support team Consistently work with Microsoft Office, relational databases, SQL, statistical software, SSRS, and other reporting tools Maintain and optimize system capability/production environment Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working with others Set a positive example through personal attendance and time management Adapt to change in order to support business objectives Work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve business goals and growth opportunities Maintain compliance, safety, and quality standards by ensuring strict adherence to company policies and procedures While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to assist with other departmental functions upon request Embody the Power of One Principles Perform other duties and complete projects as assigned What will make you successful: Fluent in Microsoft Office Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines Positive attitude and eager to learn Experience with relational databases, SQL, statistical software, and SSRS preferred Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
