Staff AccountantPosition Summary
The Staff Accountant will support the Finance team with day‑to‑day accounting operations, month‑end close activities, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented accounting professional who enjoys hands‑on work, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is interested in contributing to an organization with a strong community mission.
Key Responsibilities- Support month‑end and year‑end close, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Perform bank, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice review, coding, and payment processing
- Prepare financial schedules and documentation to support annual audits and internal reviews
- Maintain accurate accounting records in compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Assist with budget tracking, allocations, and variance analysis
- Collaborate with program and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Support ad‑hoc accounting projects and process improvements as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Experience working with accounting systems/ERPs
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time‑management skills
- Experience in a nonprofit, government‑funded, or social services organization
- Exposure to audits, grants, or program/fund accounting
- CPA or CPA‑track a plus
