Sr Systems Engineer Radar System Design

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer for Radar System Design to help shape the next generation of advanced sensing capabilities within our Defense & Aerospace portfolio. As a senior member of the Engineering & Design organization, you will lead the architecture, design, integration, and verification of sophisticated radar systems that support critical mission needs for our customers. Working within a multidisciplinary team of systems, RF, software, and hardware engineers, you will translate complex mission and operational requirements into robust radar system solutions that can be implemented, tested, and sustained over the system lifecycle.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing end-to-end radar system concepts, defining system and subsystem requirements, and performing trade studies to balance performance, cost, schedule, and risk. You will contribute to and often lead modeling and simulation activities to characterize radar performance, including detection, tracking, and signal processing behavior across a range of operational scenarios and environments. You will collaborate closely with RF and digital design teams to define interfaces, allocate requirements, and ensure that system-level performance objectives are met. As designs mature, you will support integration and test in both laboratory and field environments, developing test plans, analyzing data, and troubleshooting issues across hardware, firmware, and software components.

The Sr Systems Engineer for Radar System Design will also prepare and review technical documentation, including specifications, interface control documents, test procedures, and analysis reports. You will engage directly with internal stakeholders and external customers to present design approaches, technical findings, and performance assessments, and to ensure that radar systems align with mission objectives and applicable standards. You will mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical rigor, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
