Senior Solutions Architect (TS clearance) Position Overview Riverside Research is evolving into a mission‑aligned innovation organization – embracing a fail‑fast, test‑often culture that accelerates experimentation, learning and delivery of rigorous, operationally relevant solutions for the end users. The Solutions Architect is tasked with identifying opportunities within the U.S. National Security ecosystem to design and implement integrated technical solutions that consider co‑design between hardware and software across domains such as autonomy, orchestration, human‑machine collaboration and cyber‑resilient systems. The role involves translating requirements and operational concepts into functional and technical specifications, leading cross‑functional teams, managing projects, integrating systems, and ensuring technological solutions align with the customer’s mission and goals. As a senior technical leader, the candidate will bring experience architecting complex systems, shaping new deals and win strategies, and understanding how technologies interact and evolve. This is a hybrid position based in Fairfax, Virginia. Skills / Experience Proven technical expertise in the rapid development and deployment of software using the SEE (Simulation, Emulation, Experimentation) cycle, including implementation of hardware and human‑in‑the‑loop testbeds. Architect end‑to‑end solutions that respond to hard mission problems, ambiguous requirements, and emerging threats with innovative, executable designs. Strategic planning capabilities to guide the technical vision from implementation, addressing technical requirements. Problem‑solving skills demonstrated by addressing real‑world defense challenges through innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence. Established leadership and project management experience with cross‑functional teams, effectively managing projects involving hardware and software engineers to create integrated solutions. Experience and understanding of operational deployment of capabilities while collaborating with end‑users. Demonstrated experience identifying potential customers, seeking out key decision makers, and presenting the material in a compelling manner to encourage further engagement. Responsibilities Solution Design and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive solutions that encompass business processes, digital tools, and data to meet customer requirements. Requirement Analysis: Analyze requirements and operational concepts, translating them into technical requirements and functional specifications. Project Leadership: Lead system development projects from inception to implementation, clarifying project scope, requirements, and timelines. System Integration: Manage the integration of new and existing systems, coordinating with third‑party vendors and internal software development teams. Process Improvement: Evaluate current systems and processes to pinpoint areas for enhancement and promote new working methods. Cross‑Functional Leadership: Create integrated solutions by collaborating with diverse teams, including engineering, supply chain, finance, and manufacturing, to ensure alignment with customer objectives. Team Building: Foster collaborative, high‑performing teams by establishing a balanced workflow that respects and integrates team members’ existing commitments with the work of the integrated teams. Technical/Operational Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in specific areas, such as testbed deployment, digital twins, or hardware/software co‑design, providing guidance on best practices for rapid prototyping and fielding. Strategic Road‑mapping: Develop and maintain technology and relevant product roadmaps for integrated solutions, assess alternatives, and perform gap analyses to inform technological development. Stakeholder Support and Business Development: Couple technology developments to acquisition strategies and provide support to end‑user teams for effective adoption and utilization of new systems. Identify opportunities with existing and potential stakeholders to ensure the reusability of solutions across various platforms, customers, and domains. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with over 15 years of relevant experience in computer science, engineering, data science, or other STEM disciplines. Additional years of relevant experience will be considered. Operational experience working with end‑users to field capabilities will be considered. U.S. citizenship with an active Top Secret clearance or higher. Background in developing technical strategies for securing contract awards in the DoD within a relevant technical field. Senior architect or engineering leader with experience as a technical lead on DoD contracts. Capable of translating mission requirements into multi‑domain technical architecture. Familiarity with leading technology capability providers that enhance technical solutions. Demonstrated ability to bring integrated teams together around a common mission and lead in some cases without formal reporting relationships. Possesses project management skills and experience. Experienced in articulating complex technical concepts to customers, business development, program delivery, technical teams, and executives, both orally and in writing. Proven track record of engaging government customers across the U.S. National Security ecosystem.
