Job Title : Senior Software Engineer – Benchmark & Index Management
Location - Hybrid Fort Mill, SC – hybrid 3 days a week
Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer within Benchmark & Index Management, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering high‑quality, scalable software solutions that underpin core index and benchmark platforms. You will take end‑to‑end ownership of software delivery, applying strong engineering principles to build secure, robust, and high‑performance systems that enable strategic business growth.
This role requires deep technical expertise across data‑intensive systems, cloud infrastructure, and modern application development, as well as the ability to collaborate closely with business and engineering stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to software design, system architecture, and technical decision‑making
- Own and execute tasks across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements to production support
- Design and develop clean, efficient, scalable, and secure applications and services
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using modern engineering practices
- Advocate for and implement engineering best practices, including automation, code reviews, CI/CD, and performance optimization
- Ensure delivery of high‑quality and reliable software through unit, integration, and BDD testing
- Collaborate closely with business partners, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver solutions aligned with strategic objectives
- Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Mentor junior engineers and drive a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence
- Continuously optimise systems for performance, scalability, resilience, and security in a fast‑paced production environment
Required Experience & Technical Skills
- 8+ years of proven experience as a Software Engineer developing large‑scale, data‑intensive enterprise applications
- Strong background in database modelling, design, performance tuning, and optimisation
- Extensive experience developing data‑driven applications on SQL Server, including stored procedures and T‑SQL
- Proficiency in C# .NET, with experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices
- Front‑end development experience using Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern UI frameworks
- Strong hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, and AWS Glue
- Experience with unit testing frameworks such as MSTest and tSQLt, and BDD tools like Cucumber or Mocha
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, automation, and CI/CD pipelines
- Proven ability to deliver maintainable, high‑quality, production‑ready code
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Desirable Experience
- Experience in Financial Markets, particularly Equities and/or Fixed Income
- Prior exposure to Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python for integrations across greenfield and legacy systems
- Familiarity with Sybase and PostgreSQL, including administration and optimisation
- Experience with Business Analysis, Technical Analysis, QA, Delivery Management, or Technology Governance
- Experience working in agile environments with a strong focus on collaboration and continuous improvement
