Responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Specialist:
- Assist leading team processing and reviewing payroll, completing checks, direct deposits, and union allocations
- Assist with creating, maintaining and reviews of employee information including compensation, deductions, and status changes
- Responsible for retirement contribution processes, including 401(k) and communicating accurate data to financial institutions and third-parties
- Handle employment verifications, garnishments, multi-state and local tax requirement to ensure compliance
- Assist with payroll tax returns and W-2s
- Point of contact for employees for payroll discrepancies, union benefit calculations, tax withholdings, etc.
- Assist with improvements to payroll processes, systems, and internal controls
- Assist with guidance and mentoring of payroll staff
Ideal Experience for the Senior Payroll Specialist Role:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of high volume payroll experience
- Engineering, construction, industrial services, manufacturing and/or related industry a plus
- Union payroll experience
- Experience with payroll tax filing
- Strong systems experience
