THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a seasoned paralegal ready to step into a senior role that blends hands-on legal work, team leadership, and firm administration. This is not simply a paralegal position with added tasks it is a meaningful step up in responsibility for someone who has the experience to guide others, the judgment to manage competing priorities, and the genuine interest in helping a well-regarded firm operate at its best.
You will work directly alongside our attorneys across a broad range of practice areas, while also taking supervisory responsibility for the paralegal team setting the standard for quality, consistency, and client care. At the same time, your administrative contributions will help ensure the firm runs smoothly for both clients and colleagues.
This is a full-time role with an expectation of 45 hours per week, reflecting the level of responsibility and ownership the position carries.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & MENTORSHIP
Oversee the day-to-day work of other paralegals, providing guidance, feedback, and quality review on legal documents and client communications
Serve as the first resource for less experienced paralegals when questions arise on procedure, practice area specifics, or client handling
Onboard and train new paralegal staff, helping them acclimate to the firms standards, systems, and culture
Identify skills gaps and support professional development within the paralegal team
Partner with attorneys to allocate paralegal workloads appropriately and flag capacity or quality concerns
Model the professionalism, discretion, and client empathy that define the Graham Law standard
PARALEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Draft and review legal documents including wills, trusts, divorce petitions, business formation documents, real estate contracts, and pleadings
Assist with probate filings, guardianship proceedings, and estate administration matters
Support family law cases including divorce, custody, support, and post-decree modifications with careful attention to deadlines and client sensitivity
Prepare due diligence materials and closing documents for real estate and business transactions
Conduct and review legal research on Illinois and Indiana statutes, case law, and municipal regulations
Coordinate directly with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and government offices with professionalism and discretion
Maintain organized, current case files and docket calendars across multiple active matters
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage attorney scheduling, client appointments, and meeting logistics across our Naperville and Chesterton offices
Serve as a warm, organized point of contact for client communications and inquiries
Oversee document management systems and internal filing practices to keep the firm running smoothly
Support billing coordination, expense tracking, and vendor relationships
Identify and implement process improvements that help the team deliver consistent, timely service
WHAT YOU BRING
4+ years of paralegal experience, ideally across multiple practice areas
Demonstrated ability or eagerness to lead, mentor, or supervise others
Paralegal certificate, related degree, or work experience
Familiarity with Illinois and/or Indiana courts and procedures
Strong drafting, research, and organizational skills
The composure and empathy clients in difficult situations deserve
TECHNOLOGY YOULL USE
Microsoft 365 Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
Legal practice management software (Clio or similar)
Illinois and Indiana e-filing portals
DocuSign or equivalent e-signature platforms
Document management and cloud storage tools
Willingness to evaluate and improve firm technology over time
