Senior Full Stack Engineer (Backend Focus) | FinTech Startup | High-Impact Platform | NYC hybrid 4 days a week onsite (Manhattan)

We're working with an early-stage, well-funded fintech company building infrastructure that enables artificial intelligence to operate safely and transparently within highly regulated financial environments.

Their mission is to expand access to high-quality financial guidance by combining AI with deep institutional-grade technology — and they’re now hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer (backend-focused) to help scale the core systems powering their platform.

This role sits at the heart of the product, owning backend services responsible for performance, reliability, and secure handling of sensitive financial data.

The Role

You’ll design and build the systems that power consumer-facing applications, working across backend services, infrastructure, and integrations in a fast-moving startup environment.

You’ll have significant architectural influence and help shape engineering standards as the platform scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services supporting mobile and web applications

• Work across Go, Python and Node.js choosing the right tool for the problem

• Develop robust APIs and integrations with financial institutions and third-party providers

• Architect scalable systems with strong reliability and performance characteristics

• Implement caching strategies and optimise container-based workloads

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes

• Partner with product, frontend, and platform teams to deliver cohesive features

• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and technical guidance

What They’re Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong backend proficiency in either Go or Java + some Front End experience (bonus if React)

• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience designing scalable backend systems and distributed architectures

• Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and modern SDLC practices

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

• Ownership mindset with strong communication skills
