Senior Data Architect

Eaton's Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Senior Data Architect. This position can be based out of any of the following locations on a hybrid work schedule: Beachwood OH, Galesburg MI, Houston TX, Menomonee Falls WI, Moon Township PA, or Raleigh NC.

What You'll Do:

Job Summary At Eaton we are modernizing the way we use information and data applications to accelerate our digital transformation. In this role, data architect (manufacturing/engineering), you will be responsible for working in partnership with Principal Data Architect, IT value stream groups and business partners to identify opportunities to enhance data delivery across enterprises. As a data architect will be responsible to lead the design, alignment, and maintenance of data models across manufacturing/engineering domains, ensuring consistency with business requirements and technical standards. Apply expertise in data governance, metadata management, and data integration to support the creation of scalable and reusable data assets. Work with engineers and analysts to implement data quality measures and support the adoption of best practices in data architecture. Own data models for manufacturing/engineering whilst supporting peer architects across several domains or a broader set of data assets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models for assigned domains or several data assets.
  • Regularly review and refine models to reflect evolving business needs and technology standards.
  • Ensure semantic layers provide meaningful, consistent views for reporting and analytics.
  • Collaborate closely with business domain owners and fellow architects to ensure that cross-domain data products are interoperable and meet shared standards.
  • Architect models for sensitive data classification and access control. Lead metadata management, lineage, and cataloging.
  • Advocate for standardized metrics and reusable data assets. Support modernization and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical oversight.
  • Drive data modelling across Manufacturing and Engineering.
  • Strategic plan for enablement for Manufacturing/Engineering and ongoing oversight.
  • Conceptual thinking to understand complex issues and their implications. Implementation of solutions focused on longer term view, consideration of multiple perspectives, and understanding of future impact.
  • Handles varied but similar problems require fact-finding and troubleshooting.
  • Adapts existing approaches and occasionally develops new solutions.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of working within data delivery environment
  • Must have solid understanding of data models
  • No relocation is provided for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of one of the following: Beachwood OH, Galesburg MI, Houston TX, Menomonee Falls WI, Moon Township PA, or Raleigh NC to be considered for this opportunity.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States on a continuous basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of data modeling techniques (entity-relationship, star/snowflake schemas, 3rd normal form).
  • Prior manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-based data lakes and warehouse technologies (Apache Iceberg, Snowflake)
  • Intermediate programming ability in multiple data manipulation languages (Python, Scala, SQL, PL-SQL)
  • Intermediate experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD principles and tools
  • Demonstrated experience with metadata management and data lineage tools.
  • Skilled in supporting data integration (ETL/ELT) and data quality frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of data security, access controls, and privacy principles.
  • Proficient with cloud data platforms and data governance practices.
  • Proficient in documenting and communicating technical solutions effectively.
