About the Role
Senior Business Systems Analyst University Staff Position Summary The Senior Business Systems Analyst exists to assist developers and the HCM Core Application Manager with analysis, configuration, testing, implementation and troubleshooting of application issues within HCM, primarily but not limited to the HCM Core modules. The position is responsible for assisting with functional design specifications and test plans. The role reports to the HCM Core Application Manager and works with users on gathering business requirements for customizations and functional configuration. Where You Will Work Applicants must be Colorado residents or be able to relocate to Colorado within a month of starting employment. The role may be remote within Colorado. The office is located at 1800 Grant Street. The University of Colorado System Administration includes 19 units that provide essential services to the CU campuses. Primary Responsibilities Production support items. Assist and support other system integrations within HCM Core. Troubleshoot and analyze data and application issues within the Core HCM System. Write functional design documents for customizations. Write test plans, testing scripts and/or test scenarios. Gather business requirements for customizations with users and application managers. Track and maintain functional documents associated with HCM system. Complete regression testing for all system customizations. Provide leadership and customer service to multiple campus customers and SMEs. Complete smoke testing for PUM/Selective Adoption and PeopleTools Upgrades. Provide coverage for modules in the absence of the application manager. Analyze Core HCM release notes and conduct impact analysis. Communicate release notes to the Core HCM Community. Assist with vendor management of the module. Perform system analysis, program specification, systems development, and support during planned and unplanned maintenance windows. Expand technical skills by attending technical classes, seminars, and end user groups. Accomplish organizational goals by owning new requests and adding value. Provide subject matter expertise for the Business Systems Analysts within the Core HCM Systems Team. Secondary Responsibilities Participate in the higher education community and share knowledge with other institutions. Ensure cross training of all business processes and functional setup of the HCM Core module is dispersed to the HCM Systems Team, Employee Services, and UIS Technical staff through documentation and communication. Perform system analysis, program specification, systems development, and support during maintenance windows. Perform all other duties as assigned. Applications/Services/Tools Applications Managed: PeopleSoft HCM Services Managed: HCM PeopleSoft Core application, Hire integrations, Training integration, Position Management, Integration assistance with pulling HCM PeopleSoft Core Information, Knowledge of HCM PeopleSoft suites of applications including payroll, benefits, HR/GL and Time and Labor. Tools Utilized: MS Office Professional Plus (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access; Visio, Skype, Snagit, Snipping Tool), Oracle PeopleSoft Application Designer, PeopleSoft HCM, Beyond Compare, UltraEdit, Cherwell, TeamDynamix, Phire, Toad, SQL Developer, SharePoint, Zoom, Trello, Notepad++, WinSCP. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education (professional experience may be substituted on a year for year basis). 4+ years SQL experience using a tool such as TOAD or SQL Developer utilizing PeopleSoft Query. 4+ years demonstrated experience testing software customizations. 2+ years experience with PeopleSoft HCM 9.2. 2+ years experience working within a PeopleSoft application. 2+ years experience with PeopleSoft upgrades and PUM/Selective adoption cycles. 2+ years experience understanding the software development lifecycle (SDLC). 2+ years experience understanding software testing methodologies and best practices. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Programming, or related area. Experience using PeopleTools Testing Framework (PTF). Experience using or assisting in UFT Testing Framework tool for automating core test scripts. Experience in HCM PeopleSoft Core application from functional side to configuration of set up tables and knowledge of HCM Core development. Experience with PeopleTools version 8.61+ and knowledge of PeopleTools configuration (Approval Workflow Engine, Templates, Profile Management, Related Content, etc.). Knowledge of higher education business processes. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of higher education business processes, particularly HCM related processes such as recruiting, position management, workforce administration, benefits administration, commitment accounting, profile management, or other employee lifecycle processes. Ability to multi‑task several testing projects. Demonstrated experience supporting multiple applications. Demonstrated experience writing and managing test plans.
