We’re Looking for an Experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst! About the Company: Security Benefit is a leader in the U.S. retirement market with more than $60 billion in assets under management. We offer opportunities to thrive, innovate, and make an impact. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in driving the future of the U.S. retirement industry. Security Benefit is a PLACE where we promise to help our customers To and Through Retirement®. We’re proud to have been recognized as one of the best in the business: Named to Ward’s 50 list of top-performing life-health insurance companies Recognized on list of Ingram’s Top 100 Private Companies in the Kansas City area in 2024 About the Role As a Senior Business Systems Analyst, Annuity and Mutual Fund Custodial Platform Delivery, you will serve as the connective tissue between business operations and technology delivery. You’ll be responsible for translating complex business and operational requirements into clear, actionable system specifications that enable Zinnia and SS&C platform teams and internal engineering to deliver with confidence. This role operates across four core platform areas — annuity and mutual fund custodial administration (Zinnia and SS&C), annuity order entry platforms, and sales enablement platforms — and is critical to reducing not-in-good-order (NIGO) errors, improving straight-through processing (STP) rates, and ensuring data integrity across the full product lifecycle. The Senior Business Systems Analyst position reports to the VP, Portfolio Strategy & Delivery, and can be based out of our home office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site. Key Responsibilities Partner with the Senior Product Manager to translate roadmap priorities into sprint-ready requirements, and provide backlog refinement support to maintain delivery momentum. Elicit, analyze, and document detailed business and system requirements through structured discovery sessions with teams, stakeholders, and platform partners across all supported platform areas. Serve as the primary requirements authority for the delivery team — ensuring all work entering development has been fully defined, reviewed, and signed off by appropriate business stakeholders. Produce clear, complete, and formally approved product requirements documents (PRDs), business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria that engineering and vendor teams can execute against without ambiguity. Conduct current-state process analysis to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and integration friction points across Zinnia and SS&C platform workflows, annuity order entry platforms, and sales enablement platforms. Develop future-state process maps, data flow diagrams, and system interaction models that support platform integration design and delivery planning across all supported platform areas. Perform data analysis to evaluate platform performance, identify processing anomalies, and surface insights that inform product and operational decisions — including STP rate analysis, NIGO root cause analysis, and processing cycle time assessment. Define and track data quality standards across new business processing, post-issue servicing, and mutual fund custodial operations, and flag systemic data integrity issues to appropriate stakeholders. Develop comprehensive test plans for platform changes, integrations, and new capability releases — including test scope, test scenarios, entry and exit criteria, and traceability back to approved requirements. Partner with the test execution team to author detailed test cases and test scripts that reflect real-world operational scenarios, regulatory edge cases, and integration data flows across all supported platform environments. Support UAT coordination by providing requirements context, clarifying acceptance criteria, and assisting with defect triage as needed. Identify and document dependencies across delivery teams and platform partners, and communicate cascading impacts proactively to the Senior Product Manager and stakeholders. Support regulatory and compliance reviews by ensuring business and system requirements accurately reflect applicable regulatory obligations and operational controls. Contribute to continuous improvement of requirements practices, documentation standards, and delivery processes across the team. What We’re Looking For 10+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or directly relevant analytical role, with demonstrated ability to independently manage complex requirements across multiple workstreams and platform environments. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Finance, Insurance, or a related field. Deep familiarity with annuity and/or retirement product administration — including new business processing, policy servicing, and compliance obligations — sufficient to conduct meaningful discovery independently. Proven ability to produce formally approved requirements documentation before development begins, with experience managing requirements through change control in regulated environments. Strong data analysis skills including experience defining and tracking platform performance metrics, conducting root cause analysis, and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative inputs into actionable recommendations. Experience working directly with third-party platform vendors and managing requirements coordination across organizational boundaries. Solid understanding of business process modeling, data flow analysis, and system integration concepts. Familiarity with agile delivery practices and comfort operating within hybrid delivery environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage operations leaders, compliance stakeholders, engineering teams, and vendor partners with equal effectiveness. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with Zinnia (Zahara, Zinnia Live) or SS&C Retirement Solutions platform environments. Familiarity with annuity order entry platforms and sales enablement platform environments in a life insurance or annuity context. Familiarity with straight-through processing (STP) workflows, digital new business processing, or automated policy servicing in a life insurance or annuity context. Working knowledge of mutual fund custodial operations or 403(b) retirement plan administration. Experience supporting test plan development and UAT coordination in a platform integration context. Master’s degree in a relevant field. Why Choose Security Benefit?
