Respiratory Therapist Ii

Novant Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II to provide advanced, evidence-based respiratory care within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a key clinical professional on our multidisciplinary team, you will deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions, using cutting-edge technology and a patient-centered approach. Working in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care plans that support Novant Health’s mission of improving health through safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.
In this role, you will perform detailed respiratory assessments, interpret clinical data, and initiate or adjust therapeutic interventions such as oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, airway clearance techniques, mechanical ventilation management, and non-invasive ventilation. You will respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response calls, assist with advanced airway management, and support code blue teams as needed. Your responsibilities will include monitoring patient responses to therapy, troubleshooting equipment, documenting all interventions accurately in the electronic health record, and communicating clearly with the care team and patients’ families.
The Respiratory Therapist II serves as a clinical resource, applying advanced knowledge and critical thinking to manage complex cases across a variety of care settings, which may include intensive care, step-down, emergency, neonatal, pediatric, and adult inpatient units. You will participate in patient and family education regarding respiratory conditions, home therapies, and equipment use, ensuring that each individual receives personalized instruction and support. You will also help orient and mentor newer therapists and students, modeling best practices in safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
