Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Respiratory Therapist, 60;you’ll 60;play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. 60;You’ll 60;perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. 60;You’ll 60;have access to advanced respiratory technology, mentorship from experienced RT leaders, and the support of a dependable, collaborative team that will set you up for success and ongoing professional growth. Your role will include:
- Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and 60;determining 60;the need for respiratory interventions. 60;
- Delivering 60;evidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings. 60;
- Managing ventilation and airways by 60;assisting 60;with artificial airway placement, 60;initiating 60;and adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, 60;monitoring 60;patient 60;responses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies. 60;
- Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed. 60;
- Maintaining 60;equipment and safety by setting up, 60;operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards. 60;
What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
- (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
- Associate Degree
St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, part of St. David’s HealthCare, is a full-service medical center providing comprehensive medical care at two locations – St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and 60;St. David’s Surgical Hospital. St. David’s North Austin Medical Center 60;is a 460+ bed, multi-specialty, acute care hospital. It provides advanced women’s health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II, and III neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) at the nearby 60;St. David’s Women’s Center of Texas. The hospital also offers 60;minimally invasive gynecological surgery 60;and 60;comprehensive breast imaging 60;through 60;Solis Mammography, which is located on-site. Other services include a 60;24-hour emergency department, 60;pediatric emergency care, and 60;intensive care 60;at 60;St. David’s Children’s Hospital. The hospital also features the 60;Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, 60;bariatric (weight loss) surgery, a 60;Heart and Vascular Center, 60;neurology and neurosurgery, a 60;kidney transplant program, a 60;Level IV Epilepsy Center, as well as 60;inpatient and outpatient surgery 60;and 60;acute rehabilitation services 60;for both inpatients and outpatients.
St. David’s Women’s Center of Texas, located at St. David's North Austin Medical Center, is recognized by the State of Texas as a 60;Level IV Maternal Facility. This means it provides the highest level of care for pregnant and postpartum patients, especially those with serious or complex medical, surgical, or pregnancy-related conditions, including those at high risk for 60;maternal morbidity or mortality. The center includes a 60;95+ bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) 60;with 30+ private rooms, 10+ rooms for very small babies, and 10+ beds for babies needing neurological care. It also has 60;35+ labor, delivery, and recovery rooms, including Central Texas’ first 60;low-intervention birthing suites 60;with tubs. There are 60;95+ postpartum beds, 60;20+ antepartum beds, and 60;Cesarean section surgical suites. The facility offers 60;24/7 neonatology coverage, 60;OB/GYN hospitalists, 60;maternal-fetal medicine specialists, 60;lactation consultants, and a 60;midwifery program. It is part of the 60;National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network 60;and 60;TexasAIM, and it also provides a 60;high-risk pregnancy navigation and support program.
St. David's Surgical Hospital is part of 60;St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and is the first 60;Level 4 Epilepsy Center 60;in Central Texas for both adults and children. It has its own 60;24-hour emergency department, a 60;medical-surgical inpatient unit, and a 60;pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) 60;for patients ages 17 and under. The hospital is staffed with 60;pediatric emergency physicians, 60;pediatric hospitalists, 60;intensivists, and other specialists who are specially trained to care for children. It also includes 60;certified child-life specialists 60;who help kids feel more comfortable during their hospital stay. St. David’s Children’s Hospital offers many 60;pediatric services, such as 60;pediatric surgery, 60;pediatric radiology 60;(including imaging and interventional procedures), and 60;pediatric anesthesia 60;for surgical support. It also has a wide range of pediatric specialists available for consultation and treatment, including 60;general surgery, 60;ENT (ear, nose, and throat), 60;craniofacial and plastic surgery, 60;neurology, 60;neurosurgery, 60;urology, and 60;cardiology, among others.
