About the Role
Heart Hospital of Austin, a part of St. David's HealthCare, is seeking a Registered Nurse CVICU Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join our specialized cardiac and vascular intensive care team. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver high-acuity, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients, including those recovering from open-heart surgery, cardiac interventions, and advanced heart failure therapies. You will oversee and guide daily clinical operations on the CVICU, providing direct patient care while serving as a clinical resource and mentor to bedside nurses and support staff. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator collaborates closely with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care, ensuring optimal hemodynamic stability, pain control, and recovery outcomes.
Working in a technology-rich environment, you will manage complex cardiovascular monitoring, titrate vasoactive infusions, and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, including participation in code and rapid response situations. You will support compliance with clinical protocols, quality and safety initiatives, and regulatory standards, helping drive continuous improvement in cardiac care delivery. As a leader on the unit, you will participate in staff education, precepting, and competency validation, fostering a collaborative, learning-focused culture that emphasizes patient-centered care, compassion, and professional growth.
