About the Role
Avera Health, a regional health system based in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered rehabilitative care across our continuum of services. You will implement established treatment plans, guide patients through therapeutic exercises and functional activities, and assist in restoring mobility, strength, and independence following injury, surgery, or illness.
As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Avera Health, you will actively participate in patient assessments by observing and reporting patient responses, documenting progress in the electronic medical record, and communicating changes to the Physical Therapist and care team. You will help educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, safety techniques, and strategies to support long‑term functional goals. Your daily responsibilities will include preparing treatment areas and equipment, assisting with transfer and mobility training, monitoring patient tolerance during sessions, and maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and Avera Health standards. You will contribute to a safe, respectful environment by following infection control, patient safety, and confidentiality policies, while consistently demonstrating professionalism and empathy.

Qualifications
- Current physical therapy technician assistant certification or licensure in good standing
- Relevant coursework or experience in physical therapy assistance
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and documenting therapy notes
