About the Role
TRC’s client in Alpharetta, a leader in energy infrastructure, is hiring a Project Accountant.
This role supports both capital and reimbursable (cost-plus / contract-based) projects, partnering closely with Project Managers, internal stakeholders, and external clients (commercial and government). The position plays a key role in ensuring accurate cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting across active projects.
This is a strong opportunity for someone early in their accounting career to gain hands-on experience with project accounting, contract billing, and reimbursable work in a stable, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage accounting activities for capital and reimbursable projects
• Prepare, review, and submit client invoices tied to contract terms (cost-plus, T&M, etc.)
• Track project costs and ensure proper allocation and billability
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close (4-day close cycle)
• Perform general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Handle fixed asset accounting (unitizations, retirements, reclasses, capital vs. expense)
• Partner with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure accurate billing and timely collections
• Assist with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and system/process improvements

Required Qualifications:
• 2–3+ years of experience in project accounting, general ledger, or similar accounting role
• Experience working within an ERP system (Oracle, SAP, or similar)
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
• Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
• Effective communication skills with ability to interact cross-functionally

Preferred / Nice to Have:
• Experience with reimbursable, cost-plus, or contract-based billing
• Ability to read and interpret contracts for billing and cost recovery
• Exposure to government-funded or infrastructure-related projects
• Experience in project-based environments (construction, utilities, engineering, etc.)
