About the Role
The Mental Health Service at VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLA) is seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join the Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team (HPACT) at our West Los Angeles VAMC.
As a member of a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive services to Veterans impacted by homelessness, you will be instrumental in delivering psycho-diagnostic services and therapeutic interventions. Your role will encompass medication management, supportive psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and same-day psychiatric services, ensuring Veterans receive coordinated, rehabilitative, and restorative care aimed at achieving their highest level of functioning, independence, and housing stability.

As a member of a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive services to Veterans impacted by homelessness, you will be instrumental in delivering psycho-diagnostic services and therapeutic interventions. Your role will encompass medication management, supportive psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and same-day psychiatric services, ensuring Veterans receive coordinated, rehabilitative, and restorative care aimed at achieving their highest level of functioning, independence, and housing stability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a full spectrum of psychiatric services, including psycho-diagnostic assessments and therapeutic interventions.
- Manage medications for a wide variety of mental disorders.
- Deliver supportive psychotherapy when indicated.
- Evaluate and manage Veterans presenting urgent psychiatric needs, including hospitalization if necessary.
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary team huddles.
- Engage in outreach to recently homeless Veterans residing in transitional and supportive housing on the West Los Angeles VA campus.
- Teach and supervise psychiatry residents affiliated with the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine, with eligibility for a health sciences faculty appointment.
- Impactful Work: Serve those who have served our nation by addressing the unique mental health needs of homeless Veterans.
- Comprehensive Services: Be part of a Level 1A complexity tertiary care health organization providing state-of-the-art care to one of the largest Veteran populations in the VA system.
- Interdisciplinary Approach: Collaborate closely with primary care, psychology, nursing, and social work professionals to deliver integrated care.
- Professional Growth: Involved in teaching opportunities and innovative outreach programs, with a commitment to research and educational advancement.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine
- Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license
- Must have completed residency in an accredited core specialty
- Board Certified or Board Eligible
- Preferred minimum of 5 years of practice but not required.
- Salary Range: $348,000-$400,000
- PTO: 50?55 days of PTO annually (26/13 days of annual/sick leave, 11 holidays,)
