Care Occupational Therapist
UCHealth
Englewood, Colorado, US
About the Role
UCHealth is seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Care team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide evidence-based, patient-centered occupational therapy services to adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions in a fast-paced hospital environment. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, case managers, physical and speech therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members, you will perform comprehensive evaluations, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and focus on restoring function, maximizing independence, and promoting safe discharge to the most appropriate level of care.
Key aspects of this position include evaluating patients’ functional status in areas such as activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, and upper-extremity function; selecting and administering appropriate standardized assessments; and documenting findings clearly and timely in the electronic medical record. You will provide therapeutic interventions such as ADL retraining, activity tolerance and strengthening, neuromuscular re-education, cognitive and perceptual retraining, splinting and positioning, and patient and family education. You will also participate actively in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning, making recommendations for equipment needs, home modifications, rehabilitation level of care, and caregiver training to support safe transitions.
As an Occupational Therapist in acute care at UCHealth, you will manage a dynamic caseload, prioritize patients based on medical acuity, and adapt quickly to changing clinical needs across various hospital units, including medical-surgical, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, oncology, intensive care, and step-down units. You will follow evidence-based practice guidelines, adhere to regulatory and accreditation standards, and support quality, safety, and outcome initiatives. UCHealth fosters an innovative, diverse, and inclusive environment where your ideas for process improvement, new treatment approaches, and interprofessional collaboration are valued.
This position offers opportunities for ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development, including participation in clinical education of students, in-services, and specialty practice initiatives. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning, strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to patient care excellence. UCHealth provides competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans, within a supportive setting that encourages career growth, continuing education, and involvement in evidence-based practice and quality improvement projects. If you are an Occupational Therapist who thrives in a collaborative, patient-focused acute care environment and is eager to contribute to continuous improvement and outstanding patient outcomes, we invite you to consider joining UCHealth.
