Pharmacy Technician Trainee

As a Pharmacy Technician Trainee at Market District, you will be part of a vibrant retail healthcare team that supports our commitment to exceptional customer service and community care. Working within the in‑store pharmacy of a Market District supermarket, you will learn how to assist pharmacists with the safe and accurate preparation of prescriptions while providing a friendly, efficient experience for every guest. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will be trained to receive and process prescriptions, enter and verify patient and medication information in the pharmacy computer system, count and label medications, and prepare orders for pharmacist review. You will learn to handle sensitive health information in accordance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements, and to follow pharmacy policies, state and federal laws, and company procedures at all times.

In this trainee role, you will develop skills in medication inventory management, including checking in orders from wholesalers, rotating stock, monitoring expiration dates, and helping to maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy work area. You will support the overall operation of the pharmacy by assisting with front‑end duties such as operating the point‑of‑sale system, handling cash and electronic payments, processing insurance claims at the register, and answering phones to help direct patient questions to the pharmacist or appropriate team member. You will also help manage wait times, ensure prescriptions are ready when promised, and communicate clearly and respectfully with customers about pick‑ups, refills, and basic over‑the‑counter product locations, always deferring clinical questions to the pharmacist.
