Occupational Therapy Assistant

Altru Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Altru Health System, is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Grand Forks, ND. In this role, you will work under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to provide high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitative care across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will implement individualized treatment plans to help patients regain independence in daily activities, including self-care, mobility, and functional tasks at home, work, and in the community. Responsibilities include assisting with evaluations by gathering patient history and functional status information, carrying out prescribed therapeutic interventions, monitoring patient progress, and accurately documenting treatments in the electronic medical record in accordance with regulatory and departmental standards. You will collaborate closely with occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate care, adjust treatment approaches, and support safe and effective discharge planning. You will also educate patients and families on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and strategies to promote safety and independence after discharge. The position requires strong communication skills, clinical reasoning, time management, and adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.
