VHC Health is seeking an experienced, innovative, and collaborative Board-Certified Pulmonologist with fellowship training in Interventional Pulmonology to serve as the inaugural Medical Director, Interventional Pulmonology at our hospital campus in Arlington, Virginia.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior physician leader to build and develop a comprehensive Interventional Pulmonology program from the ground up within one of the highest-performing independent health systems in the Washington, DC metropolitan region. This full-time employed leadership role combines active clinical practice with strategic program development, operational leadership, quality initiatives, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Position Overview

The Medical Director, Interventional Pulmonology will serve as the clinical and strategic leader responsible for developing, launching, and growing VHC Health's Interventional Pulmonology program.

Because this is a new and expanding service line, the organization seeks a physician leader with substantial experience in procedural pulmonology, program building, multidisciplinary care coordination, and operational leadership. This role is ideal for a physician who is energized by the opportunity to establish clinical infrastructure, expand procedural capabilities, standardize care pathways, and shape the future vision of advanced pulmonary and thoracic disease management across the health system.

The Medical Director will work closely with executive leadership, thoracic surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, critical care, radiology, pathology, anesthesia, and nursing leadership to create a high-quality, integrated Interventional Pulmonology program focused on exceptional patient outcomes, innovation, and growth.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship

  • Board Certification in Pulmonary Disease required

  • Eligibility for unrestricted Virginia medical licensure

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-training Interventional Pulmonology experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures

  • Prior leadership experience as a Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Program Director, or service-line leader strongly preferred

  • Experience in program development, operational growth, or procedural service expansion strongly preferred

  • Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, innovation, quality improvement, and patient-centered care
