About the Role
Job Description We're hiring Medical Assistants to support participant visits for the CROWN Brain Health Study, a multi-site longitudinal research study focused on understanding Alzheimer's disease and related conditions. CROWN is a collaboration between Capital Neurology and Sleep Medicine and Crownlands, focused on collecting samples and clinical data to help improve early detection of brain diseases. As an MA on this study, you'll work directly with participants throughout their visits: guiding them through the process, performing blood draws and sample handling, administering cognitive and behavioral assessments, and ensuring smooth visit logistics. You'll also be a key part of a small, focused team contributing to research that may improve how we diagnose and treat Alzheimer's in the future. Most of our participants are older adults, and many are living with memory or cognitive conditions. Patience, warmth, and clear communication are essential. We're looking for someone careful, conscientious, and genuinely interested in being part of meaningful clinical research. Reporting structure Capital Neurology site coordinator (day-to-day), with study-level support from Crownlands clinical operations. What you'll do ● Greet and orient participants at the start of each visit, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed ● Collect vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse) and conduct medication reviews ● Perform venipuncture for research blood samples and prepare samples for shipment ● Administer the UPSIT smell identification test and behavioral questionnaires (GDS-15, NPI-Q) ● Support administration of cognitive assessments (MMSE, FCSRT, Category Fluency): training and certification provided Required qualifications ● Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent), or willingness to obtain ● Phlebotomy certification, or willingness to obtain prior to study start ● High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred ● Comfort working with older adults ● Strong attention to detail and documentation skills ● Comfort with electronic systems and data entry ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills ● Reliable, organized, and able to follow protocols precisely Preferred qualifications ● Prior experience in clinical research, neurology, geriatrics, or memory clinic settings ● Experience administering cognitive assessments (MoCA, MMSE, CDR-SB, or similar) ● ACRP CCRC, SoCRA CCRP, or similar research certification ● GCP / CITI training certification ● IATA biological sample shipping certification ● Familiarity with REDCap or similar electronic data capture systems ● Experience with venipuncture in older adults
