Lifeguard I - Countywide

The Department of Parks and Recreation has 8 aquatic facilities to include: 2 indoor pools, 4 community pools and 2 waterparks. We are currently hiring for all 8 DPR aquatic facilities for the upcoming summer season! Shifts will range from early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. As a lifeguard you will learn valuable life skills and develop leadership abilities that future employers are looking for. We are seeking applicants who enjoy a fast-paced work environment, who prioritize safety and responsibilities and have excellent communication skills. No prior experience is required for this position. Minimum requirements include:

• 8th Grade education or higher
• 15 years of age or older by June 7, 2026
• Pass the swim test requirements for consideration as a Lifeguard:
• Ability to swim 100 yards (4 lengths of a pool) without stopping
• Retrieve a 10 pound brick from the deepest end of the pool
• Tread water for 1 minute without using arms or hands
• Complete Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (included in training upon hire, free of charge)

Starting pay is $15.93. The position is open until filled with ongoing application review. The Department of Parks, Recreation conducts DMV records checks on all employees driving for work purposes and criminal background checks on all hires age 18 years and older.
