Lifeguard
About the Role
The Lifeguards will work under the direct supervision of the Recreation Superintendent, Pool Manager and Assistant Managers and are responsible for providing a safe environment. Lifeguards will provide a positive image of the Community Pool facility by using attentive, conscientious and courteous behavior on the job. Lifeguard duties include but are not limited to, supervising all swimming and deck areas, enforcing all facility policies and performing cleaning duties, which include facility and grounds maintenance. Lifeguards are expected to have a professional and mature attitude. Pool season runs from late May through August.
Supervise patrons and provide a safe environment. Perform lifeguarding duties: rescues and assists as necessary. Perform First Aid and CPR as necessary. Know, enforce and adhere to all policies and rules of the facility. Know and follow established emergency procedures. Work cooperatively and as a team with supervisors and other staff. Perform daily cleaning duties and additional cleaning as assigned by the Manager or Assistant Manager. Required attendance at staff in-service training and meetings. Complete accident report forms, rescue forms and incident forms. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Manager or Assistant Manager.
Job Qualifications:
Lifeguard Training and Certification
First Aid Certification
CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification
Knowledge and Skills:
Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding rescue techniques
Knowledge of the principles and practices of facility rules, policies, and procedures
Leadership qualities
Public relation skills
Maturity level to understand and recognize the importance of assigned duties and responsibilities
Professional, courteous attitude!
