Labor and Delivery Nurse
About the Role
Frankfort Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a key member of our maternity care unit, you will provide high-quality, family-centered nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum experience. You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, and support staff to ensure safe, evidence-based care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. In this role, you will monitor maternal and fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring, respond rapidly to changes in condition, and assist with both routine and high-risk vaginal and cesarean deliveries. You will administer medications, including labor-inducing agents and pain management therapies, support patients with both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic comfort measures, and provide education and emotional support to patients and their families before, during, and after childbirth. You will also participate in emergency situations, including obstetric hemorrhage, preeclampsia, shoulder dystocia, and neonatal resuscitation, following established hospital protocols and best-practice guidelines. You will be responsible for accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, safe medication administration, maintaining a clean and safe environment of care, and adhering to all hospital, regulatory, and infection prevention standards. As part of the culture at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, you will contribute to a supportive, team-based atmosphere that emphasizes community, excellence in healthcare, respect, and open communication with both patients and colleagues. You will participate in ongoing education, skills training, and quality improvement initiatives to continuously enhance patient outcomes and the overall birth experience. This is a full-time, hospital-based nursing position that may include rotating shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays to meet the needs of our patients. The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with experience in labor and delivery or women’s health, strong critical-thinking and communication skills, and a genuine passion for caring for mothers, newborns, and families during one of the most important moments of their lives.
