Head Custodian - Dennis Elementary

Under direction, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility and grounds.

1. Performs a variety of tasks to ensure cleanliness of buildings (e.g., scrubs, dusts, wet mops, vacuums, strips, sweeps, waxes floors, empties trash, washes walls and windows, cleans chalkboards, etc.).

2. Cleans restrooms and locker rooms daily (e.g., scrubs, disinfects, empties trash, etc.) and replenishes toilet paper, paper towels and soap dispensers.

3. Supervises summer custodial workers (e.g., assigns tasks, provides direction and training, etc.).

4. Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities and custodial equipment (e.g., replaces light bulbs, moves classroom furniture, sets up tables and chairs, etc.).

5. Assists principal in setting up and taking down all special equipment for assemblies and special programs.

6. Operates necessary equipment (e.g., vacuum, cleaner, buffer, scrubber, etc.).

7. Assists in cafeteria during lunch (e.g., sets up and takes down equipment, cleans floors, tables and chairs, etc.).

8. Maintains current inventory of supplies and notifies supervisor of supply needs.

9. Provides security for building by attending to the physical plant during open house and securing all doors, windows and restricted areas during closed hours.

10. Closes the building by shutting off all lights and locking all doors and windows.

11. Performs a variety of tasks to the grounds surrounding the building (e.g., mows yard, trims shrubbery, removes snow and ice, keeps trash picked up and emptied, etc.).

12. Maintains hearing and cooling levels in building and reports problems.

13. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

14. Coordinates overtime scheduling with the building principal and/or Operation Supervisor.

15. Performs other duties as stated in the job description and as assigned by supervisors and building principal.

Qualifications:

1. Training and/or experience which evidences knowledge of custodial and basic maintenance techniques and basic supervision.

2. Demonstrable ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor.

3. Demonstrable ability to interpret labels and warnings.

4. Must pass criminal background check.

5. Completion of aptitude test.

Conditions of Employment:

1. Effective Date: ASAP

2. Terms of Employment: One Year probationary contract

3. Hours of Work: 8 hours per day 6:00am 2:00pm / 260 day contract

4. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License

5. Salary and Benefits: As approved in the current negotiated agreement. Starting salary: $18.07 + $2.00 differential per hour to start.
