Hiring Now: Float Phlebotomist Day shift|8:00am to 5:00pm|1-3 years of experience **Interviews Available This Week** Job Description The primary role of the Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, providing training, and recommending workflow improvements. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. Responsibilities Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. Centrifuge specimens and update patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Understand and follow all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required. Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. Package specimens for transport ensuring integrity is maintained. Store specimens at required temperatures in appropriate containers. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results. Essential Skills Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen handling. Experience in blood draws, labeling, and sample preparation. Knowledge of specimen management and storage. Experience with laboratory protocols and biological samples. Ability to perform venipunctures in a fast-paced environment. Proven experience with pediatric blood draws. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School diploma or GED completion required. Phlebotomy certification is not required. 6+ months of experience in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service skills. Work Environment The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with potential slight variations depending on the clinic. The position requires floating between multiple locations including Indy, Bloomington, Seymour, Scottsburg, Evansville, Bedford, Vincennes, Washington, and Olney. Employees will be informed of their schedule during a weekly team call every Thursday. Compensation includes mileage and drive time.
