Entry-level Appellate Paralegal
About the Role
Overview Join MoFo as an Entry‑Level Paralegal on our Appellate group! This role can be based in San Francisco or Washington, D.C. About The Role The Appellate Paralegal will support the firm’s thriving national appellate practice in the Supreme Court, every federal court of appeals, and state appellate courts. Morrison & Foerster’s Supreme Court & Appellate Practice group handles appeals in every area of law—from intellectual property to class actions, arbitration to antitrust, environmental law to ERISA. The Paralegal will also assist on a variety of pro bono matters. Principal Responsibilities Cite‑checking and filing briefs and appendices before the Supreme Court and various federal and state appellate courts. Assisting with drafting and filing of procedural motions and other legal documents. Conducting factual research related to ongoing appeals. Maintaining a reference library for administrative information and court rules. Developing and maintaining information regarding open appeals and documents pertaining to them. Preparing and reviewing business development materials as needed. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 3.5 GPA required. Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines under direct supervision. Strong sense of accountability and ownership over projects. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects; flexibility in shifting focus. Excellent critical thinking, writing, and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business and client needs.
