Emergency Room Registered Nurse Rn

TriCities Hospital, part of the HCA Virginia Health System, is seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in our state-of-the-art Emergency Department. In this fast-paced role, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients of all ages presenting with a wide range of acute and emergent conditions. You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments, rapidly recognize changes in patient status, and collaborate with emergency physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement evidence-based care plans. Responsibilities include triaging incoming patients according to acuity, administering medications and treatments safely, initiating and managing IV therapy, monitoring vital signs and cardiac rhythms, assisting with diagnostic procedures, and responding quickly and effectively to medical emergencies such as strokes, cardiac events, trauma, and respiratory distress. You will use advanced clinical judgment to prioritize care, coordinate diagnostic tests and interventions, and provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and families during stressful and emotionally charged situations. The Emergency Room RN will document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality and safety initiatives. You will actively participate in rapid response and code teams, follow sepsis and stroke protocols, support safe patient flow from arrival through disposition, and collaborate closely with inpatient units, laboratory, radiology, respiratory therapy, and ancillary services.
