About the Role

Overview A specialized senior position under limited supervision, responsible for troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and maintaining database and applications in support of business requirements. Requires specialized depth and breadth of experience in database technologies. Performs database and application upgrades. Provides technical support during critical and non‑critical business hours. Proactively identifies and automates the resolution to availability and performance failures throughout the environment. Responsibilities Supports cross‑functional project teams with sprint planning and execution as well as database support and maintenance activities. This includes database analysis and design, defect identification and remediation, database build and configuration tasks, incident response, and similar IT system support activities to help deliver solutions as required. Creates database standards, designs, best practices, and roadmaps for IT systems and technologies. Provides technical support during critical and non‑critical business hours on database systems. Is proactive and reactive for problem alerting, analysis, resolution, and follow‑up to ensure database stability. Champions cross‑functional knowledge sharing and training throughout the organization. Creates and maintains technical reference documentation to be used in support and training of IT personnel. Proactively identifies and automates the resolution to database availability and performance failures throughout the environment. Go‑to person for engineering solutions across the different applications in‑house. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Deploys, configures, and supports mostly complex databases in physical, virtual, and cloud environments for use by internal and external applications. Performs complex database upgrades/patching as well as periodic health checks in accordance with established policies and procedures. Proactively identifies work requests that can be downshifted to Operations staff or automated via software automation and orchestration tools. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience 8 years of experience in Database Engineering and Administration, software development. 2 years of experience in Demonstrated team leadership experience. Compensation In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the base pay range for this position is $104,400 - 164,000 per year. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
