Data Center Technician (2-5 Years)

About the Role

Data Center Tech Hands and Eyes Support for Engineering Services [On-site] Rack, cable, and label servers or storage equipment (power, network, management) per provided engineering standards/runbooks; photograph completed cabling if requested. [On-site] Perform physical patching changes at the rack (move/replace network cables, verify link lights) exactly as directed by engineering/network teams. [On-site] Attach laptop/console cable or connect to KVM/iDRAC/iLO console and relay screen output to engineering during troubleshooting. [On-site] Verify and report hardware status indicators (LEDs/alarms), slot locations, and port identifiers on servers and storage shelves as requested. [On-site] Reseat or replace hot-swappable components (e.g., disk drives, power supplies, fans, SFPs) under explicit engineering direction and within approved change windows. [On-site] Assist with storage break/fix by pulling/replacing failed drives and confirming correct bay/serial number before and after replacement, at the storage engineer’s direction. [On-site] Capture and provide asset details needed for engineering work: serial numbers, model numbers, rack/U position, MAC addresses, and cable/port mappings; update tickets with evidence. [Hybrid] Support cutovers/migrations by being on-site during the change to perform physical steps, validate link status, and coordinate real-time communication with remote engineering. [On-site] Coordinate vendor/field-service access (escort, ensure correct parts are on hand, provide rack access) and validate completion against engineering instructions. [On-site] Perform basic environmental/rack checks to support engineering triage (power/circuit status, PDU outlet state, cable strain, unobstructed airflow) and report findings. [Remote] Document actions performed (timestamps, photos, serials, outcomes) and maintain accurate ticket notes for engineering follow-up. #J-18808-Ljbffr
