Work Shift Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure. Equipment Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique so that the patient receives the lowest possible dose of ionizing radiation while maintaining image quality. Reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or service provider for timely correction. Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policy and department cleaning schedule. Patient Care Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Responds to emergency situations and maintains crash cart and life-support equipment. Observes patient condition and evaluates when physician intervention is necessary. Verifies correct identity of patient using two unique identifiers per policy. Demonstrates competence in appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies and techniques based on patient age. Follows physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with power injector operation. Understands, demonstrates and documents preprocedural verification and Time Out process when appropriate. Demonstrates and understands pre- and post-procedural care. notifies physician when unresolved. Participates in orientation and training of department employees. Reads email each scheduled workday and follows through with assignments. Completes mandatory departmental and hospital-wide education without prompting. Quality Control Consistently produces acceptable images based on radiologist feedback and quality audits. Ensures equipment is operational by checking calibration and operating deficiencies. Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion; Prints completed teleradiography log sheet and submits to Radiologist when applicable. Operations Applies shielding, supportive and immobilization devices and equipment. Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed and when time allows. Performs clerical and support duties to ensure continuity and quality of services. Maintains Joint Commission and other regulatory agency standards. Graduate of AMA-approved School of Radiology Technology - Required ARRT Radiography ARRT Computed Tomography Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology - Required Must exhibit excellent communication skills due to frequent interactions with physicians, patients, visitors and departmental staff. Must consistently demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Must be detail oriented and able to multitask effectively throughout the work shift. Must communicate professionally with a variety of customers including patients, families, coworkers, volunteers and physicians. Must be compliant with all hospital policies and professional standards. Must understand anatomy and pathology and how they affect the quality of a procedure.
