Clinical Risk Analyst – Direct Hire Opportunity (On-Site | Roslyn, NY)

• Start Date: ASAP or upon completion of a 2-week notice period

We are partnering with a leading medical professional liability insurance organization to hire a Clinical Risk Analyst to join their Underwriting team. This is a unique opportunity for a clinically trained professional to transition out of direct patient care into a highly analytical, strategy-driven corporate role.

About the Role

In this position, you will serve as the clinical subject matter expert within the underwriting function, translating complex medical information into clear, actionable insights that support risk evaluation, policy decisions, and claims analysis.

You will work closely with underwriting leadership and an internal physician advisor to assess medical liability exposure across physician practices and contribute to data-driven risk strategy development.

No prior insurance experience is required. Full training and structured onboarding are provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Review medical records, legal documentation, and expert opinions to assess clinical risk and liability exposure
• Partner with underwriting and physician leadership on policy renewals and risk decisions
• Support evaluation of high-risk accounts, conditional renewals, and non-renewal recommendations
• Analyze malpractice claims and prepare clinical and financial exposure summaries
• Identify trends in claims and risk data to support underwriting guidelines
• Assist in development of reporting tools and strategic insights for senior leadership
• Contribute to process improvement and risk-monitoring initiatives, including automation efforts

Qualifications

• Active clinical background required: RN, NP, PA, or MD
• Minimum of 3 years of direct patient care experience
• Strong ability to interpret and analyze complex medical documentation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate clinical findings into business insights
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus
• Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion

• Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)
• Hospital quality / peer review
• Utilization review or case management
• Legal nurse consulting
• Medical malpractice, risk management, or underwriting exposure
