About the Role

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator Med Surg Weekends to support our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this weekend-based leadership role, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care on a busy medical-surgical unit, serving as a clinical resource and charge nurse for staff during weekend shifts. You will oversee patient flow, prioritize and delegate nursing assignments, and ensure safe staffing levels while promoting adherence to evidence-based practice, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator provides direct patient care, performs comprehensive assessments, develops and updates individualized care plans, administers medications and treatments, and evaluates patient responses in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. You will mentor and support bedside nurses and support staff, assist with onboarding and precepting new team members, and foster a culture of teamwork, communication, and accountability aligned with HCA Healthcare’s values of compassion, integrity, and patient-centered care. This role involves active participation in quality and safety initiatives, documentation and reporting of clinical outcomes, incident follow-up, and support of performance improvement projects related to the med-surg population. The coordinator will communicate closely with patients and families, provide education on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions, and advocate for patient needs and preferences throughout the continuum of care. Weekend coverage requires strong critical thinking, autonomous decision-making, and the ability to respond effectively to changes in patient conditions, codes, and emergencies.
