About the Role
Avera Health, a regional health system based in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a dedicated Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As part of a mission-driven organization that emphasizes compassion, hospitality, and stewardship, you will provide high-quality anesthesia care to patients across a variety of surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. In this role, you will conduct thorough pre-anesthesia assessments, review patient histories, perform focused physical exams, and evaluate diagnostic data to develop individualized anesthesia plans. You will deliver safe and effective anesthesia using general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care techniques, including administration of nerve blocks, epidural and spinal anesthesia, and sedation, while closely monitoring patients’ vital signs, airway, and hemodynamic status throughout the perioperative period. Working on-site within Avera Health hospitals and surgical facilities, you will collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and other members of the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes, support a culture of safety, and ensure seamless coordination of care. You will be responsible for postoperative evaluation and pain management, managing the transition of patients to recovery and inpatient units, and ensuring accurate, timely documentation of all aspects of anesthesia care in the electronic health record. You will also participate in emergency responses, including airway management and resuscitation efforts, applying advanced clinical judgment in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations. Avera Health fosters a collaborative and supportive environment dedicated to improving healthcare and serving communities with respect and dignity. As a CRNA, you will have the opportunity to grow professionally within a robust healthcare network that encourages continuing education, involvement in quality improvement initiatives, and adoption of evidence-based practice. You will be expected to stay current with advances in anesthesia pharmacology, technology, and clinical guidelines while upholding regulatory and safety standards.
