About the Role

divh2Full Time Certified Medical Assistant/h2pCabinet Peaks Medical Center is seeking a Full Time Certified Medical Assistant in the Family Medicine Clinic!/ppThe CMA provides clerical and administrative support such as scheduling appointments. This position works collaboratively with Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, RNs LPNs and other department staff to meet the physical, psychosocial, education and spiritual needs of the patient and family. The CMA is responsible for patient flow for the provider through telephone response, exam and procedure assistance, patient education, patient call backs, and direct communication with both the provider and the Practice Manager. This position requires both front office/reception and direct patient care are required on a daily basis./ppMajor Job Duties Responsibilities/pulliProvides patient care which includes rooming patients, completing necessary vital signs, recording accurate information into the electronic medical record and other duties as assigned by the physician./liliAssists the physician with procedures. Prior to any procedure the MA must ensure that the appropriate consent has been obtained./liliPerforms tests as directed by the physician (within the scope of practice)./liliCompletes monthly duties (i.e. check out dates, stocking rooms, sample drug closet, crash cart) as assigned in a timely manner to maintain practice compliance with rules and regulations./liliManages care issues that are within the scope of practice such as suture/staple removal, dressing changes, injections, application/removal of braces/casts, etc./liliCommunicates appropriately and clearly to the practice manager, co-workers, and physician./liliEnsures that all instruments are properly handled and sterilized and that all rooms are fully stocked at the end of the day. Supplies are to be ordered in a timely manner so that patient care is never impacted./liliMAs are cross-trained and able to function as front office staff if necessary./liliAll medical information that is gathered by the MA needs to be accurately and timely placed in the EMR system. The MA needs to be functional within the current EMR environment./liliManages follow-up calls and questions from patients within the scope of practice./liliPerforms all aspects of patient care within an environment which optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical or health errors, all while supporting a culture of safety and confidentiality./liliEnsures that all lab specimens are taken to the lab by the end of each business day and that no labs are left overnight in the office./liliEnsures that all equipment is handled in a safe and correct manner./liliWorks well under pressure in a high traffic work environment./liliParticipates in monthly staff meetings, training sessions, and annual education sessions, disaster drills, etc./li/ulpSkills, Knowledge, Abilities/pulliStrong analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and social skills./liliPossess excellent prioritization, organization, and time management skills./liliFunctions independently with self-confidence in a clinical office environment./liliPractices with honesty and moral vigor as well as accepts full responsibility for actions./liliOperated with ample verbal, written, and computer skills./liliDemonstrates knowledge and skill in the care of patients./liliCommunicates clearly and appropriately with colleagues, peers, supervisors, and medical providers./li/ulpEducational Requirements/pulliHigh school graduate or equivalent./liliCurrent CMA certification./liliBLS certification preferred; must obtain within 3 months of hire./liliSAPAA certification preferred; must obtain within 6 months of hire./li/ulpExperience/pulliSix (6) months of related work experience in a previous medical office or other related medical practice preferred, but not required./liliExperience performing minor procedures and minor in-office lab testing under the CLIA wavered test status regulations preferred./li/ulpSchedule/ppSchedule will be based on the needs of the clinic./ppMA Wage Band 4/ppCMA Wage Band 6/ppCabinet Peaks Medical Center is committed to providing a safe, efficient, and productive work environment for all employees.
