About the Role
UF Health in Gainesville is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cardiovascular Technologist to join our Cardiac Cath Lab as a full-time team member, working a 6:30 AM–5:00 PM schedule. In this important role, you will support interventional cardiologists and the cardiovascular team in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient care for patients with complex cardiac conditions. As part of a leading academic health center, you will contribute to high-quality patient care, participate in innovative clinical practices, and support our mission of advancing cardiovascular medicine.
The Cardiovascular Technologist will prepare patients and procedure rooms for cardiac cath lab cases, verify relevant clinical information, and ensure all necessary equipment, supplies, and devices are available and functioning properly. During procedures, you will operate and assist with specialized imaging and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, maintain strict sterile technique, and collaborate closely with physicians and nurses to obtain high-quality diagnostic images and accurate hemodynamic data. You will monitor patient status, recognize and communicate changes in condition, and assist with emergency interventions when needed, including response to acute coronary syndromes and other critical cardiac events.
Key aspects of this position include accurate measurement and documentation of hemodynamic and ECG data, assisting with vascular access and device preparation, and supporting procedures such as coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions, right and left heart catheterizations, and other specialized cardiac or peripheral vascular procedures performed in the cath lab. You will help manage contrast media usage, adhere to radiation safety principles to minimize exposure for patients and staff, and follow UF Health protocols and regulatory standards for infection prevention and patient safety.
Before and after procedures, the Cardiovascular Technologist will support patient care by verifying identification and consent, explaining procedures, assisting with positioning, and ensuring patient comfort. Post-procedure, you will assist with patient transfer, monitoring, and documentation, and ensure that equipment is cleaned, restocked, and ready for subsequent cases. You will be responsible for accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and for maintaining logs, quality records, and procedure data consistent with departmental and accreditation requirements.
Working within UF Health’s collaborative and inclusive culture, you will actively participate in team huddles, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency in the cath lab. You will engage in continuing education and skills development to stay current with evolving cath lab technologies, interventional techniques, and best practices. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside leading clinicians, trainees, and researchers, contributing to a learning environment that values innovation, diversity, and patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical aptitude in cardiovascular imaging and monitoring, meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, procedure-driven environment. Previous experience in a cardiac cath lab or interventional cardiovascular setting is highly desirable. A relevant associate degree in cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, or a related allied health field is typically required, along with appropriate certifications and licensure per Florida and UF Health standards. UF Health supports ongoing professional growth, providing opportunities to expand your skills, pursue advanced certifications, and participate in groundbreaking cardiovascular care and research while delivering compassionate care to patients and families.
