The Cardiac stepdown division (7200) supports the care continuum for post-surgical cardiac patients. The team provides specialized acute care in a fast-paced environment.¿ It is recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Joint Commission for left ventricular assist device implantation and management and care of the patient after heart transplantation surgery.¿ Nurses in this environment possess strong critical thinking skills and are able to make autonomous decisions.¿ Nurses also have the opportunity to be involved in the patient's progress from the immediate post-op period all the way through discharge.¿ The staff in this unit demonstrates a true passion for nursing and joy for their work. Coordinates patient care, personnel management, maintenance of equipment, equipment purchased, and statistical accumulation.   Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. Provides and oversees patient care according to planned interventions with regard to their age and developmental needs to attain the patient's optimal level of wellness and documents according to policy. Creates and ensures implementation of a collaborative plan of care based on assessment, diagnosis and medical treatment. Perform and approve daily payroll updates. Reconcile time cards, bonus tracking and coding approval. make nursing assignments as well as assign overtime. evaluate and conduct performance reviews as assigned; Conducts performance evaluations and makes recommendations on areas of improvement if needed.
